The Restorative Classroom: Bringing the Joy of Drama to English, Language Learning and Any Subject 

This workshop is designed to suit the needs of our "new normal" in the 21st Century classroom.

In these challenging times, with the rise of smart phones and social media; a collective need for equity and inclusion; and an increase in mental health issues; educators need tools for creating healthy human interactions and engagement in the classroom more than ever.


With an emphasis on dramatic play, The Restorative Classroom Workshop is an immersive, interactive experience that reinvigorates the joy of learning for both teacher and student. 


The workshop is filled with fun activities and tools to develop and increase students':

  • Social, Interpersonal, and Criticial Thinking Skills

  • Awareness of Others' Perceptions, Empathy and Insight 

  • Active Listening and Conflict Resolution

  • Creativity and Problem Solving Skills

  • A Sense of Community, Connectedness and Well-Being  

Participants experience how to create TEMENOS- a safe space and ensemble in their classrooms; so that students can express themselves openly, freely and creatively in a peer-supportive environment. Trauma informed practices and pedagogies are referenced. Methods in interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, theatre for social justice, and collaboration are practiced. 

Drama enriches the teaching and learning of English (TESOL) and other language pedagogies by accelerating fluency by actively speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Participants embody language meaning through movement, mirroring, and social-emotional learning; resulting in more confidence, expression of one's voice, and better overall communication to apply to teacher-student relationships. 

In this four day workshop, participants collaborate, devise, and perform a short play using drama, art, creative writing, and improvisation techniques. On the fourth day, everything learned in the workshop is integrated by creating a lesson plan inspired from art at the famous Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
